Defensive Rifle/Carbine Skills & Drills Course

 

Introduction of foundational defensive rifle/carbine skills; engage single and multiple targets in a variety of drills requiring rapid movement, use of cover, plus transition to sidearm.

Course: Saturday, 9:00AM – 5:00PM

Course cost: $375.00 per student*

(*$25.00 WCC daily range donation included)

($50.00 discount for WCC members)

Course Overview

  • Learn and implement the Four (4) Gun Safety Rules and proper range etiquette
  • Refresh your Gun Handling foundational skills: psychomotor defensive gun handling
  • under a variety of administrative and tactical challenges.
  • Transition from rifle to defensive sidearm back to rifle, efficiently, rapidly & safely.
  • Learn proper reloading techniques.
  • Single and multiple target drills and exercises from contact distance to 50 yards.
  • Perform close and medium-range accuracy drills under time pressure & stress.
  • Single and multiple targets engagement drills and exercises.
  • Live fire shooting timed drills and exercises.

Rifle and Pistol Range Rules

  

1. BEFORE SHOOTING raise red flag found in the mailbox on the flagpole. Signing in on the Sign-in sheet BEFORE SHOOTING is mandatory. Members and guests must sign in BEFORE SHOOTING. All guests must also sign a range waiver BEFORE SHOOTING. Waiver sheets are in the upper mailbox on the flagpole.

2. No alcohol or drugs allowed. No alcohol or drug impaired shooters allowed.

3. Be prepared to show your club membership card to other members while on club grounds.

4. Eye and ear protection is required at all times.

5. Pick up your brass. Pick up your trash. Pick up other trash if present. Leave the range cleaner than when you arrived.

6. Only shoot targets you have placed on the fencing or the permanently installed steel targets in the northwest corner of the impact berm. Absolutely no targets may be placed in the front of the fence, on the ground or on the fence posts. Do not use glass, rocks, bricks, bowling pins, etc as targets.

7. Absolutely NO EXPLODING TARGETS!!

8. All firearms must be unloaded with the action open before anyone moves forward from firing positions.

9. Shooting is only allowed at the impact berm.

10. Only 1 firing line at a time is allowed. This means if there are multiple shooters everyone must form 1 firing line and shoot from the same distance.

11. Hours are 8:00a.m. to dusk, unless prior arrangements have been approved by the board of directors.

VIOLATION OF ANY OF THE RANGE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE CANCELLATION OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP.

New snow fence for paper targets.

There will eventually be four steel targets.
